WE SUPPORT KANSAS TEACHERS!
Project Teacher equips students in need to effectively learn by collecting and distributing free school supplies to their teachers. Our organization supports over 60,000 students in poverty, primarily across South-Central Kansas. Each of these students are receiving meal subsidies at school or are otherwise at-risk due to homelessness, foster care involvement or receiving other public assistance. Schools with 50% or higher of their student populations receiving free/reduced priced lunches are eligible to participate in our programs.
We fulfill our mission through these core programs:
• Project Teacher Free Store provides teachers and other school personnel in qualifying high-needs schools the opportunity to “shop” for free school supplies throughout the academic year.
• Classroom ReStock allows teachers to receive essential school supplies through a quarterly box distribution direct to their classroom.
• The Big Give distribution events are community-wide events where our impact partners are on-site as hundreds of teachers come to receive school supplies.
Each Project Teacher experience provides valuable, free school supplies to support effective learning for each teacher that participates.
EQUIP | EMPOWER | CHANGE
Our Mission
Project Teacher exists to Equip Teachers who Empower Students so that together we can Change the Community. Project Teacher operates the only teacher resource center in the state of Kansas that distributes free school supplies and resources to teachers and classrooms in need year-round. Our mission is based on the belief that every child deserves school supplies and has the right to a quality education regardless of circumstance.
Our Vision
We fulfill our mission by distributing items through the physical resource center, mobile delivery program, and events in the communities we serve. We believe that every child in our community should have equal opportunity and access to a quality education. We know that supplies equal success in school, so by providing the proper tools and resources, students can better achieve their educational goals. Resources provided by Project Teacher, immediately impact teachers and students alike in these underserved communities. Students gain more confidence knowing they can participate in lessons and can be fully engaged and focused. Project Teacher’s mission also benefits the teacher, helping to eliminate the burden of spending their own money. Teachers often reach deep into their own pockets to equip their classrooms and students with essential supplies. Educators on average spend about $800 of their own money each year to help erase the gap. Project Teacher provides freedom to educators so they can be more empowered in the classroom, ultimately leading to an effective and equitable learning environment.
