Nearly 80% of students in our community qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program, meaning it is difficult for the families to afford the average $145 cost to purchase supplies for school. Kids are arriving to school with empty backpacks leaving teachers nowhere else to turn but their own pocketbooks to purchase classroom supplies. Project Teacher operates the only resource center in the state of Kansas where teachers can come to receive school supplies for FREE year-round. On average teachers receive $625 worth of supplies at each visit. Since 2014, Project Project Teacher has distributed over $6million in supplies to classrooms in need.
